RECAP: Game And Geek Expo 2025

As I scanned the sea of booths sprawling across the expo hall, my eyes lit up. Countless video game boxes and consoles, old and new, crowded each table, separated by mere feet. Booth by booth, I rifled through boxes and bins until I found it: LEGO Lord of the Rings™. My white whale.

Yeah, I could’ve gotten it online, but finding a copy in person hits differently.

This was the Game And Geek Expo, a collection of over 100 video game vendors, indie developers, artists, and more. I was lucky enough to be offered a media pass to go cover the event, and that’s just what I did!

If you went, you’ll remember how fun it was looking through all the games for sale. And if you missed it, I think this may make you want to go next year:

Reply to this email with your favorite video game of all time!! Would love to hear it.

GalaxyCon Raleigh arrives in July

Raleigh, NC – July 24-27, 2025 | Official website

Address: Raleigh Convention Center, 500 S Salisbury St, Raleigh, NC 27601

Cost:

  • $45-75 (Single day)

  • $140-180 (Weekend passes)

  • $450-$2,700 (VIP experiences)

This is probably the most anticipated fandom convention in NC every year, and we’re now exactly 30 days out. From celebrities to fan groups, panelists and entertainers, GalaxyCon brings together some of the most talented people in the nerd culture universe for an amazing event.

I’ve been to this one twice before, and it blows my mind every time. The exhibit hall is huge, and the cosplay is some of the best you’ll ever see. They also have some special attractions, tabletop & video gaming, family-friendly craft making, and more. See the main events list on their website.

And don’t forget to check out the special events that require separate admission!

GalaxyCon is actually a group of conventions all around the country, and they really know what they’re doing. What I like about GalaxyCon Raleigh is that it feels like a big, robust convention without the commitment required to attend something like DragonCon in Atlanta or the San Diego Comic Con in California.

Also, Ben Schwartz is gonna be there.

We’re getting a bit of a break on events until GalaxyCon, but don’t forget that BrickUniverse is this weekend in Raleigh. LEGO fans unite!

Alright, keep it classy 👉
