Hey there, I’m Matias. After much planning and preparation, NERD GATE Southeast is officially live! If you have the paid subscription, look out for the first issue this Friday.

To everyone who’s helped me along the way, I couldn’t have done it without you. Launching this newsletter is a result of months of planning and collaborative work with some of the most creative and insightful people I know. Thank you for all your help in reaching this big milestone.

What is NERD GATE Southeast??

NERD GATE Southeast is a biweekly (every 2 weeks) newsletter on nerd culture, and a place for subscribers to share their love for nerdy things. Every issue starts with a Community Cork Board, where paying subscribers can submit their thing (whatever that may be) to share with other readers. This is a great way to directly connect with others and begin building a community.

The rest of the content takes a nerd culture focus on:

• Updates, recommendations, and tips for local events, big and small (everything from local video game music jams to Dragon Con in Atlanta)

• Exclusive stories and features on local creators and businesses.

What do you mean by “Nerd Culture”?

Do you own prop replicas from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings or one of the Alien film anthology box sets? Does the size of your comic book collection rival the Library of Congress? Do people sometimes say you might be a little too into model trains?

If you have passion for a creative work, skill, or technology that goes beyond what would be considered mainstream average, you’re a part of nerd culture. Often, this type of passion shows up in things like science fiction & fantasy worlds, video games, etc., so that’s the type of content this newsletter will likely contain the most of.

However, I want the content to be a reflection of the readers themselves. Who’s to say there won’t be a post all about knitting practices or where to find the rarest trading cards? If that’s you and you’d like to share that type of thing, subscribe to the newsletter and reply via email with what you’d like to see!
