It’s the end of the year, and I’ve had twelve months to write this newsletter for you. And after all this time, I must share some news:
NERD GATE Southeast will be taking an indefinite pause from the weekly issues next year. Life and priorities have changed, and I sadly don’t have the resources or bandwidth to keep this project going on my own at the moment. But I’m extremely thankful to have started it.
This newsletter project has taught me so much about North Carolina’s nerd/geek/pop culture, the events that bring us together, and the people and businesses keeping fandoms alive for all of us. I’ve met some amazing people and had unforgettable experiences.
And it’s all been thanks to you, the reader. If you’ve been reading for a while, I want you to know you have my most sincere thanks. Thank you for reading, for sharing, and for providing feedback along the way.
If you just got here, I apologize for knowing you for such a short time.
But in either case, please consider staying subscribed. Though you may not hear from me for a while, I’ll still keep NERD GATE Southeast somewhat active.
What’s NOT changing
Most of the website will stay up, including:
The blog archive
The business directory
The signup pages for the mailing list
The YouTube channel will remain active (somewhat)
I will still be making videos of events and businesses in North Carolina from time to time.
What IS changing
All activities requiring weekly updates or monthly expenses:
The weekly newsletter will stop being sent. I may, however, send an email out when new YouTube videos are published.
The event calendar will be disabled
This is both a monthly expense and requires updating continuously
The membership model has been removed. Previously paid membership features affected:
The Discord server will stay up for those who want to join and hang out from time to time
The Community Cork Board submissions will be open to all subscribers, albeit you may not see any posts for a long time
Thank you for your time and your understanding. And again, for being a part of this fun project.
Check out the calendar and business directory for more North Carolina events & businesses.
See you next week for one final issue of NERD GATE Southeast,
– Matias
