Today on the cork board:

  • The first of its kind event, the Indigenous Pop Culture Expo looks to showcase Native American and Indigenous creatives and communities in a way that dispels the mythologies that Natives are a people of the past. Rather we seek to show Native identity in all its past, present, and future glory.

Everyone is welcome at the Expo!

From comics to games to film and tv, IndigiPopX is an exciting way to learn more, experience and enjoy all that Native American popular culture has to offer.

Memories of Hyrule: Piano Concert

Raleigh, NC—Friday, September 19

For all my Legend of Zelda fans in Raleigh, this makes for a super fun and relaxing evening. The Memories of Hyrule piano concert is a candlelit concert in a relatively small, intimate setting.

Watch their promo video to get the vibe. It’s the best way to describe it.

Tickets are selling out! It’s 50 minutes of all your favorite Zelda tunes. Doors open 30 minutes before the show, and they have two different show times:

7:15 PM & 8:45 PM

Cost: $45
Address: Open Table Methodist Church, 824 N Bloodworth St, Raleigh, NC 27604

Greensboro Comicon

Greensboro, NC—Saturday, September 20

Here’s another locally-owned comic con! And a great excuse to spend time in Greensboro.

The Greensboro Comicon is a one-day event with lots of comics, vendors, and cosplay. Their lineup of special guests is made up of 12 local and traveling authors & artists. This type of convention is great for networking and learning from guests like these who can share what it’s like working in the comics industry.

The event runs from 10 AM to 5 PM. And for the price, it’s a no-brainer.

Cost: $10; children 11 and under free
Address: Greensboro Marriott Downtown, 304 N Greene St, Greensboro, NC 27401

Geek & Grub Market: Wizard Edition

Apex, NC—Saturday, September 20

We love Geek And Grub’s themed markets! And this one is all magic. The Wizard Edition schedule leans into Harry Potter fandom, so expect a house elf sock toss competition, sorting hat ceremony, and wand dueling. They’re even having some good giveaways, like passes to the upcoming Playthrough Gaming Convention!

And of course, there will be plenty of geeky vendors to buy cool things from. Read more about what you can expect on the website.

Cost: Free (no tickets needed)
Address: Optimist Farm, 2908 Optimist Farm Rd, Apex, NC 27539
